Dozens of guns stolen from Asheville business, police say

More than 30 guns were stolen from a gun business in Asheville early Friday morning, according to Samantha Booth with Asheville Police Department.Officers responded to a business alarm at Carolina Guns and Gear on Sweeten Creek around 4:40 a.m., Booth said.According to Booth, the front door of the business was removed.An employee of the business told police that a minimum of 33 handguns were stolen, Booth said.According to Booth, surveillance video showed the suspect entering the store and grabbing the weapons from a back wall and shoving them into a large black and red duffel bag before leaving the business.Based on surveillance video, it appears the suspect was driving a silver vehicle, Booth said.APD is continuing their investigation and working in conjunction with agents from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on this case.APD encourages anyone who may have information about this case to call 828-252-1110.
